Collection: Thin Skin Hairpieces & Toupees for Men

A thin skin base is a thin, clear polyurethane (poly) film. Depending on the model, the hair is V-looped, injected or knotted into it, and the V-looped and injected bases are made so no knots show. Adhesive cleans off the solid surface quickly, but it breathes less than lace, and the thinner the skin, the more gently it has to be handled.

Our thin skin hairpieces and toupees run from 0.03 mm to 0.12 mm and are made with human hair. There are two partial pieces as well, one for the hairline and one for the crown. Grey options differ by model, so check the product page if you wear grey.

Choose by thickness

0.03 mm ultra thin skin: V-looped Ultra Thin Skin Men's Hair System (HS25V) and Ultra Lightweight Thin Skin Hair System (LIGHT03A). At this thickness they need very gentle handling.

0.06–0.08 mm: Men's Frontal Hair System (HS1V-FRONTAL) and Poly Thin Skin V-looped Top Hairpiece (HS1V-TOP) at 0.06 mm; Poly Thin Skin V-Loop Men's Hair System (HS1VM) at 0.06–0.08 mm; V-looped Hair System (HS08V), Transparent Poly Skin Men's Hair System (HS1), Transparent Poly Skin Men's Toupee (HS1M), Poly Thin Skin Men's Toupee Hair System (HS1R), Men’s Lace Front Hairpiece (HS15P) and Thin Skin Hairpiece With Injected PU (INS) at 0.08 mm.

0.12 mm injected skin with gauze: Men’s Thin Skin Gauze Base Hair System (DUROINS). Its listing says it's built for men who wear their system through workouts, long days and repeated reattachment, with higher durability than standard skin systems and a slightly firmer feel.

V-looped, injected or knotted

V-looped: HS08V, HS1V-FRONTAL, HS1V-TOP, HS1VM and HS25V. The hair is looped through the base, so no knots show.

Injected: DUROINS, and Thin Skin Hairpiece With Injected PU thin skin. The hair is set into the base rather than tied. DUROINS lists an injected, knotless front hairline, and the Injected PU listing says it has no knots.

Knotted: HS1, HS1M and HS1R are knotted thin skin with a 1/2" V-looped front hairline. HS15P is knotted thin skin with a 1" bleached Swiss lace front, and it's also on our Lace Front page.

Hairline and crown pieces

Men's Frontal Hair System (HS1V-FRONTAL) covers the hairline only, in 1" × 6" (two widths), 2" × 6" and 4" × 7". Poly Thin Skin V-looped Top Hairpiece (HS1V-TOP) covers the crown, in 5" × 5". Both are 0.06 mm V-looped skin, made to blend with the hair you still have.

Which of our skin systems to pick

Thin skin suits you if the hairline matters most and you like a quick, predictable cleanup. If you sweat heavily or spend long days in the heat, weigh the lower airflow, because lace may be the more comfortable base.

Questions about thin skin hairpieces

What is an injected hair system?

One where the hair is injected into a thin skin base instead of being tied. On this page, Men’s Thin Skin Gauze Base Hair System (DUROINS) and Thin Skin Hairpiece With Injected PU thin skin are injected.

Is a thin skin base breathable?

Less than lace, because the solid base doesn't let air and sweat pass through. If you sweat heavily or live somewhere very hot, factor it in.

How often should a thin skin system be washed?

What's the difference between HS1, HS1M and HS1R?

All three use the same 0.08 mm knotted thin skin with a 1/2" V-looped front hairline. HS1 is 100% density, HS1M is 120%, and HS1R is 100% with Remy human hair.
