Topper, integration or full system?

The right piece depends on how much of your own hair there is to blend with

Thinner at the part or crown

A hair topper

A partial piece for the part line, crown or top of the head. Your own hair at the front, sides and back stays and blends over it. Clip-in or bonded.

Integration

A fine mesh base with your own hair pulled through it, for thinning spread across the top.

A full hair system

Covers the whole top of the head, including for hair loss from alopecia or after chemotherapy.

Already have a piece? Bring it to your consultation and we’ll look at it with you. Don’t have one yet? Ask us at your consultation.

Looking for length rather than coverage? That’s extensions, which aren’t on our menu.

Is this right for you?

A topper or hair system is a cosmetic piece with regular upkeep. It suits some women beautifully, and it isn’t for everyone

A lovely fit if

  • Your part is widening or your crown is thinning, and the front, sides and back are still full
  • You’d like more coverage on top, without surgery
  • You already own a topper or piece and want it fitted and looked after
  • Your hair loss comes from alopecia or treatment

Maybe not the right first step if

  • Your hair loss is sudden, patchy or unexplained: see a physician or dermatologist first.
  • You’re considering surgery: that’s a question for a doctor.
  • You want length rather than coverage: that’s extensions.
  • You’d like a one-time fix: a piece needs a salon visit every few weeks and is replaced as it wears.
  • You feel the heat easily: a piece is an extra layer in hot weather and during exercise.

We fit pieces for medical hair loss too, with the same care and privacy

How it works

At your pace, from the first conversation

01.

A free, private consultation

30 unhurried minutes: where your hair is thinner, the options that suit it, how the piece would be matched to your color, and what it would cost.

02.

Fitting and color match

A bonded piece is attached with tape or glue; a clip-in topper is fitted with clips. Then it’s cut into your own hair so the lengths and layers match. If your piece is ready, the fitting can follow your consultation the same day.

03.

Ongoing care

For bonded pieces, every 2–4 weeks depending on you: the piece is removed and cleaned, your scalp is shampooed and the piece is reattached, finished with a blow-dry.

Crafted around your own hair

The piece matters. How it’s fitted, colored and cared for matters more

Questions and answers

Questions women ask before their first appointment

It can, when four things line up: the color matches your roots, mid-lengths and ends; the density is close to your own hair (a piece thicker than your hair is a common giveaway); the front edge sits just behind your hairline, not on it; and the piece is cut into your own hair. Wind, a visible part and close contact test a piece hardest, so bring them up at your consultation.
Anything that grips hair puts some tension on it. Clips that sit on fine or fragile hair in the same place every day can strain it; careful placement and moving the clips reduce that. A bonded piece attaches differently, and your consultation is the place to weigh which suits your hair. If shedding is speeding up, please see a physician or dermatologist about the cause first.
Not all of it. Toppers and integration pieces are made to blend with the hair you have, so most of your own hair stays. Your hair is only cut as much as blending needs, and you agree on that together at your consultation.
There are three common ways: clips, tape and glue. Clips go in and come out each day, and you handle them yourself. Tape and glue stay on between salon visits, and we remove and reattach the piece for you. We fit both clip-in toppers and bonded pieces.
Yes. We color pieces to match your natural hair, including blending with or covering grey, and can color your own hair at the same visit.
A bonded piece generally holds more securely than clips in wind and during exercise, because it’s attached around its edge rather than to a few sections of hair. Heat and sweat wear tape and glue down faster, which is one reason upkeep is regular.
It depends on the base, the hair, how it’s attached and how it’s cared for, so we’ll talk about it for your piece at the consultation. More in how long a hair system lasts.
Yes. We fit, cut and style pieces clients bring, including ones bought online; bring it to your consultation so we can look at it first. Before you buy, check that the base covers the thinner area with a margin, and match the color against your ends. Our guide to hair systems for women explains measuring, or book your consultation first and buy after.
